India vs Australia Live Score and Updates

The first day of the fifth Test between India and Australia at The WACA in Perth is now over. India started strongly with Kaushal Silva and Vijay Shankar scoring half-centuries before the Australian bowlers got to work, dismissing both batsmen for 53. KL Rahul followed up his maiden Test century with a fluent 71 before being dismissed by Pat Cummins for 126. Cheteshwar Pujara was the next Indian batsman in, but he too was bowled out for 56 as Australia managed to dismiss all their other batsmen, with Steve Smith taking 4/110 in 44 overs.

This ended a very frustrating innings from Pujara who had started off so well, averaging 49 in Tests at home. There was some good news for India though as Jasprit Bumrah took 3/41 to help India take a 103-run lead after two days of play.

There were some good performances from other Indians too, including Ravichandran Ashwin who took 2/47 from 18 overs and Mohammed Shami who picked up 3/42 from 21 overs. However, it was not enough as Australia closed the innings on 278/9 (still trailing by 103 runs) with Smith unbeaten on 67*. With this scoreline, India are still hopeful of tying the series but they will need to perform better tomorrow if they want to win it outright.

As always, stay tuned for live updates throughout the day…
